A Message from the President
Greetings to our members and guests of the St. Lucie County Human Resource Association (SLCHRA) website, as your 2008 President, I would like to personally thank each and every one of you for your interest and support of the SLCHRA. The Association is here to assist you in your human resource roles whether you are a generalist, specialist, executive or running the whole operation by yourself. The SLCHRA is a valuable resource in gaining indispensable knowledge that you can bring back to your organizations. Additionally, the monthly membership meetings provide a wonderful networking opportunity to meet other HR practitioners and learn about the latest cutting-edge human resource best practices.
Through the various programs and events brought to you by the SLCHRA, you will have the opportunity to advance your skills in the field of human resources by being actively involved in high-level discussions, and activities geared toward advancing the profession.
This year your Board of Directors has decided to develop a curriculum called “What HR Should Know”. Through member feedback we have developed a series of meeting topics that will provide you with in-depth information and how to present it to the top executives of your organization, topics that are meaningful to the bottom line of the organization. The purpose of this program is to provide you, the HR Practitioner, the information you need to prove that the Human Resources Department deserves a “seat at the table.” Many of you have been hearing about HR wanting a seat at the table, and now you will be given the tools to make it happen.
This program has been in the works for some time and is a tribute to the past leaders of this Association in our endeavor to continually grow the Association and provide meaningful content to our members. To that end, on behalf of the Board of Directors of the SLCHRA, I welcome you, and look forward to a very successful year.
Tamara J. Williamson, PHR
